What is the golden hour?
The golden hour is the roughly one-hour window just after sunrise and just before sunset, when the sun is low and the light is soft, warm, and directional — the most flattering natural light of the day.
What is the blue hour?
The blue hour is the short period before sunrise and after sunset when the sun is below the horizon and the sky glows deep blue. It's ideal for cityscapes, the boardwalk, and long-exposure water.
Are these times exact?
Sunrise and sunset are calculated precisely for your location and date. The golden and blue-hour windows are based on the sun's angle and are accurate to a few minutes — enough to plan a shoot.
